The third and final of my daily drawings

I have been having such fun drawing, and I posted this one on my gardening blog. My work has evolved over the three days, to become this.

It's been interesting. I found the first one, while it still looked whimsical, was a wee bit too scratchy looking.

By day two, I had the brilliant idea (I thought) of limiting myself to five colours, specifically five colours which I have named and created a palette for at colourlovers.com. The second one, according to my kind-hearted 16 year old, was grossly unflattering, apparently I am much more beautiful in reality. Well, it was distorted and exaggerated as Brett Whiteley suggested, and I don't mind looking old. But it wasn't the caricature that I felt could be improved on, I felt the light crayon work of the colouring in did not supply the oomph of the impact of colour that I crave.

So here we are in day three of my little drawing exercise, and after deciding to do a drawing of something in my domestic environment, killed two birds with one stone and created Tomato Salad, above. It is a celebration of my little world, an appreciation of my garden and its produce but above all, a display of life with colour amplified. Maybe I will turn it into a card for my mum's birthday, it is just what she would like.
